Neil Parry, 23, is again playing on his college football team, the San Jose State Spartans, in California. Three years ago, his right leg was amputated below the knee after a game injury. UPFRONT recently spoke to Parry.

What drives you to get out there each day?

The love I have for the game. I'd say that I don't want stuff to control me.

What challenges have you had to overcome?

There have been so many. I've had 25 surgeries. And I think the dedication I've had, to stick with my goals, is something I'm pretty proud of, because it hasn't been easy for me.

Were your teammates and friends supportive?

Everybody just stood behind me and wanted to see me play as much as I wanted to get back out and play.
