A person who has been convicted of a controlled substance crime under Article 3 of the drug code, entitled "Narcotics and Controlled Substances," is prohibited from serving as a guardian ad litem for children in abuse and neglect cases.6 This prohibition should not apply to drug paraphernalia crimes under section 44-53-391 because subsection (c) provides that imposition of a civil fine for violation of section 44-53-391 "shall not give rise to any disability or legal disadvantage...
