The director of the Wisconsin Legislative Fiscal Bureau Robert W. Lang has been chosen to receive the 2007 Steven D. Gold Award, which recognizes a significant contribution to public finance in the field of intergovernmental relations or state and local finance.

Through his many years of professional and public service, Lang has earned the respect and admiration of his staff, members of the Legislature, the community in which he lives and his colleagues from around the country.

Lang joined the staff of the Fiscal Bureau in 1971 as a fiscal analyst working in the areas of finance and taxation. In July 1977 he became director. With a tenure of more than 30 years, Lang is the longest serving legislative fiscal director in the country.

The nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau provides professional expertise to the Wisconsin Legislature, legislative leaders, the Joint Committee on Finance and individual legislators.
