Lumigent Technologies Inc., a developer of data auditing solutions, has unveiled Entegra[TM] for Oracle[R] databases. This enterprise-level software helps organizations maintain the integrity of their data, reduce the risk of inappropriate changes and access to data, and meet compliance regulations.

Lee Phillips, the company's vice president for compliance and auditing practice, noted in an interview that the Oracle release follows that of Entegra for Microsoft SQL databases in March 2003. Lumigent, based in Acton, Mass., is now working on a release for Sybase users.

A major catalyst for database auditing in 2004 is Sarbanes-Oxley, under which financial misrepresentation by public companies is punishable by fines, imprisonment, or both; first year-end reporting capabilities must be in place by the end of 2004. Other regulations that require database auditing include the Health Insurance Privacy and Portability Act (HIPAA), The USA Patriot Act, the Gramm-Leach-Blily Act and others.
