Attorney General changes charitable organization proposal following input from Ohio Society of CPAs and others.

Attorney General Jim Petro filed a revised draft of proposed rules for Ohio's charitable organizations in response to concerns raised by The Ohio Society and the non-profit community.

Following the initial release of the proposed rules on June 29, a task force of Society members was assembled to review the rules and their potential impact on non-profits and the CPAs who provide services to them. The Society shared the task force recommendations and concerns in a meeting with Attorney General Petro.

Petro dramatically revised the initial draft to omit onerous provisions that would have created significant cost increases for Ohio's charitable entities. The provisions would have also increased liability exposure of the entities and their board members.
