Atlanta Chapter plans upcoming year and holds monthly luncheons.

On August 21, the Atlanta Chapter held its annual kickoff meeting at Aaron's Inc. office in Kennesaw, Georgia. Ben Turner, Atlanta Chapter President, began the meeting by setting out goals for the upcoming year. We then discussed TEI's Vision 20/20 plan and other strategic objectives for the coming years and how those initiatives could be incorporated at the chapter level. Lastly, the group set the meeting dates for the upcoming year and discussed the chapter's scholarship program. In attendance were chapter officers, board of directors, and committee chairpersons.

On September 18, Vanessa A. Scott, a partner in the Washington, D.C., office of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP, was the guest speaker for our first monthly luncheon of the year. The topic of the luncheon was the effect of the tax-related provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, in particular the provisions that have already been placed in service along with the ones that will go into effect in 2013 and later years.
