ATCO Structures & Logistics Ltd. opened a new branch office in Anchorage last fall. The Calgary, Alberta, Canada-based company believes the Alaska market will provide business growth opportunities. One recent ATCO project is a 78-person camp for a mining project south of Fairbanks, which was due to be finished in late 2009.

"Alaska has been an important market to ATCO for decades," said Harry Wilmot, company president. "This expansion will allow us to work even closer with our aboriginal and joint-venture partners as well as local clients."

ATCO's housing experience in Alaska dates back to the late 1970s when the company provided work force housing along the trans-Alaska oil pipeline. Those early units were capable of withstanding extreme temperatures and winds of 120 mph.
