Association Grants Eisenhower, Forrestal Awards.

* The National Defense Industrial Association presented Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., the Dwight D. Eisenhower Award in April. The award is the association's highest honor and was given in recognition of Inhofe's commitment to the security of the nation and his dedication to those in uniform.

"I was humbled to receive the 2018 Eisenhower Award," said Inhofe, a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, in a statement following the award ceremony which was held at the Pentagon City Ritz-Carlton in Arlington, Virginia. "Each of us has a responsibility to do all we can--and more--to ensure that our men and women in uniform have the resources they need to complete their mission effectively and safely."

Retired Air Force Gen. Hawk Carlisle, NDIA's president and CEO, said: "We are grateful to James Inhofe for his unwavering support of the U.S. military and, by extension, the American defense industrial base.... By standing up for the best equipment and funding for our military, Inhofe has stood up for the industry that makes ours the best fighting force on the planet."

Inhofe has been a champion for military installations, particularly in Oklahoma, and has traveled overseas frequently to visit U.S. troops and meet with U.S. allies. He has fought to fix funding shortfalls in defense spending and to protect and advance missile defense systems. Inhofe was among the senators who sought $ 100 million for rapid development and deployment of boost-phase missile defense technology, citing rising threats from North Korea.
