Revenue Canada Assistant Deputy Minister Barry Lacombe Retires.

A special gathering was arranged by Revenue Canada and members of the Canadian government to mark the retirement of Assistant Deputy Minister Barry Lacombe and recognize Mr. Lacombe's achievements. Joining Governor General Romeo Leblanc at the event were TEI's Vice President of Canadian Affairs Pierre Bocti, Munir Suleman, John Allinotte, David Burn, Peter Kastner, and Brent Mooney. Mr. Bocti spoke on behalf of the Institute. His remarks are reprinted below.

"Your excellency, Mr. and Mrs. Lacombe, ladies and gentlemen, good afternoon. My name is Pierre Bocti, and I am Vice President of Canadian Affairs for Tax Executives Institute. It is quite an honor for me to be here representing Tax Executives Institute. I am also quite honored to be invited to say a few words. I would not have missed this opportunity on a personal basis, as well.

"TEI is an international organization of approximately 5,000 tax professionals in Canada and the United States. Canadians make up approximately 10 percent of the TEI membership with chapters based in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver. Toronto is the third largest chapter in North America. Some of our members are also here to participate in this special event, including Munir Suleman, incoming president of the Toronto Chapter.
