Asia Chapter hosts China Tax Conference.

While the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China discussed Tax Reform in Beijing, the Asia Chapter hosted a successful China Tax Conference at the Westin Bund in Shanghai on Friday, March 9. More than 60 tax professionals from around the world (including TEI President Dave Bernard) gathered at the conference to get the latest update on tax developments in China.

The China Tax Conference, organized by Vincci Lo of Lexmark with assistance from Terry Yuen of Intel and Amy Poon of Altria, featured speakers from eight professional firms. The China Tax Conference was the chapter's first event organized without assistance from a sponsoring firm. Thus, it marked the further growth and development of the Institute's young Asia Chapter.

The conference consisted of four panel discussions: (1) Structuring & Restructuring in view of China Tax Reform, (2) Merger and Acquisition Planning, (3) Transfer Pricing, and (4) Customs Duty Planning. Each session featured an industry professional who moderated a panel consisting of...
