Haden Gerrish

Suspending the analytical, left-brained side of his law-trained brain, Portsmouth attorney Haden Gerrish can frequently be found—sometimes shivering a little - throughout the year, painting outside.

A devotee of the en plein aire approach, his water-colors are painted outdoors, in one sitting. "Working quickly, I try to express my emotional connection to the subject matter as intimately as possible. Each painting is a journey that sometimes brings me to a different destination than what I might have initially planned. I welcome spontaneity and accidents in my work, which for me are all part of celebrating watercolor as a medium," he wrote in a note accompanying these works.
