Arthrex invests $100M in 500-job expansion.

Arthrex, an orthopedic technology company, will expand operations in Anderson County with a $100 million investment set to create another 500 jobs.

Founded in 1981, Arthrex is a global leader in orthopedic surgical device design, research, manufacturing and medical education. The company develops and releases more than 1,000 products and surgical procedures each year to advance minimally invasive orthopedics worldwide, according to a news release.

"This investment will help Arthrex better support the growth and development of new and innovative products that help surgeons treat their patients better," Andy Owen, Arthrex's vice president of manufacturing, said in the release. "Arthrex has been committed to manufacturing quality products in the United States, and this represents that continued commitment."

Located at 130 Arthrex Drive in Pendleton, Arthrex's expansion will include adding a second manufacturing facility and an electron-beam (E-beam) and X-ray sterilizations facility.
