Scope: The National Endowment for the Humanities
seeks applications for the Archaeological and
Ethnographic Field Research announcement.
Deadline: Sept. 30, 2020.
Funds: $800,000 for up to 10 awards of up to $150,000.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities; nonprot
organizations; and state, local, special district and Native
American tribal organizations.
Areas: NEH said archaeological methods may
include eld survey and eld-based remote sensing,
documentation or visualization, and/or excavations
in support of answering research questions in all
aspects of the human past, including but not limited
to ancient studies, anthropology, art history, classical
studies, regional studies, epigraphy and other related
disciplines. Ethnographic methods may include
participant observation, surveys and interviews, and
documentation or recording in pursuit of research
questions in anthropology, ethnolinguistics, oral history,
ethnomusicology, performance studies, folklore studies
and related disciplines.

Condensed Matter and Materials Theory (NSF)
Scope: The National Science Foundation seeks
applications for the Condensed Matter and Materials
Theory announcement to support theoretical and
computational materials research.
Deadline: Proposals are accepted at any time.
Funds: $15 million total for up to 40 awards.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities and nonprot
organizations.
Areas: NSF said areas of recent interest include but
are not limited to: strongly correlated electron systems;
active matter; topological phases; low-dimensional
materials and systems; quantum and classical
nonequilibrium phenomena, the latter including pattern
formation, materials growth, microstructure evolution,
fracture and the jamming transition; gels; glasses;
disordered materials, hard and soft; defects; high-
temperature superconductivity; nanostructured materials
and mesoscale phenomena; creation and manipulation
of coherent quantum states; polymeric materials and
soft condensed matter; biologically inspired materials;
and research at the interface with biology.

Research Experiences for Teachers
in Engineering and Computer Science (NSF)
Scope: The National Science Foundation seeks
applications for the Research Experiences for
Teachers (RET) in Engineering and Computer Science
announcement to support active long-term collaborative
partnerships between K–12 Science, Technology,
Engineering, Computer and Information Science,
and Mathematics (STEM) in-service and pre-service
teachers, full-time community college faculty, university
faculty and students, and industry partners to enhance
the scientic disciplinary knowledge and capacity of
the STEM teachers and/or community college faculty
through participation in authentic summer research
experiences with engineering and computer science
faculty researchers.
