APHSA Appoints Chairs of Executive Governing Board and National Council of Local Human Services Administrators.

Position:Association news - David A. Hansell of American Public Human Services Association

The Board, now led by David A. Hansell, Commissioner of New York City's Administration for Children's Services, is responsible for setting the overall strategic direction of the Association, including the approval of association-wide priorities and objectives and overseeing operations. The Executive Governing Board (the Board) includes state and local chief executives as well as appointed members from other sectors, including private businesses and nonprofit organizations. Hansell has worked at the national, state, and local levels in child welfare and social services, including prior service in the New York City government in the Department of Health and the Human Resources Administration, in addition to experience in the nonprofit and private sectors--most recently as Managing Director and head of the Global Human and Social Services Center of Excellence at KPMG. He has also served as Commissioner of the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance and Acting Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families.
