Annual Service Award winners.

CalCPA recently presented the following annual service awards, chosen from a record number of nominations:

Public Service Award: Fausto Hinojosa (Fresno Chapter; Price, Paige & Company) has taken on various leadership roles in his community, including board member for Fig Gardens Rotary, Community Foundation and Reading & Beyond; member of the Fresno Mayor's Advisory Committee; and is active in his church and restructured and improved its finances as its senior financial offer.

Public Service Award (Firm): Holthouse Carlin Van Trigt, LLP in Los Angeles encourages community participation from all staff levels and is involved in variety of causes, a sampling of which includes Operation Gratitude; Kids Against Hunger; Ovarian Cancer Coalition; Pasadena & Contra Costa Humane Societies; West LA Animal Shelter; Pet Orphans of Southern California; PV Peninsula Land Conservancy; Ronald McDonald House; and Leukemia & Lymphoma Research, The firm also provides employees one full, paid day off to volunteer and each of its nine offices plans one major holiday volunteer event during the year.

Public Service Award (Firm): Sensiba San Filippo LLP, based in Pleasanton. The firm supports and encourages volunteerism and community involvement as part of its culture and provides staff the opportunity to have input on what community service projects are scheduled. Many firm managers and partners serve on boards for local nonprofits, including hospitals, school PTAs and Salvation Army chapters. In 2017, among other highlights, the firm provided 4,675 employee volunteer hours; supported 66 local organizations; and donated $65,000 to employee-supported...
