Bank Mergers and Acquisitions

FNB United Corp, parent company of CommunityONE Bank, N.A., Asheboro, N.C, announced that it has completed the acquisition of Bank of Granite Corp., parent company of Bank of Granite, and consummated a $310 recapitalization. The two banks will operate separately until late spring of 2012 when, subject to receipt of regulatory approval, it is anticipated the consolidation process will be completed and will thereafter operate solely as CommunityONE Bank.

Bank of North Carolina, Thomasville, N.C., a wholly owned subsidiary of BNC Bancorp announced today that is has entered into a purchase and assumption agreement with loss share arrangements with the FDIC to purchase substantially all of the assets, deposits and other liabilities of Blue Ridge Savings Bank Inc.
