U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE: INTL. INFORMATION PROGRAMS http://usinfo.state.gov/usinfo/ The Department of State uses its Bureau of International Information Programs to engage "international audiences on issues of foreign policy, society and values."

U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE http://www.state.gov/ This site gives access to recent news as well as to country reports and information on important international issues, such as terrorism, human rights, and religious freedom.

UNC CURRICULUM IN PEACE, WAR, AND DEFENSE http://www.unc.edu/depts/pwad/ This University of North Carolina program provides speakers for campus events.

U.S. NATIONAL SECURITY AND MILITARY AFFAIRS

GLOBAL SECURITY http://www.globalsecurity.org/ This site seeks to bring readers "the facts" by means of hot topics, current news, videos, and important documents concerning the armed forces, intelligence, homeland security, and weapons of mass destruction. Its focus is "innovative approaches to emerging security challenges."

INSTITUTE FOR THE STUDY OF WAR http://www.understandingwar.org/ The Institute's "flagship project" is The Iraq Report, which "narrates, explains, and analyzes recent military operations in Iraq. The first series of reports are available on the website of The Weekly Standard. The Institute also offers summer internships.

MICHAEL YON ONLINE http://www.michaelyon-online.com/ Former Green Beret now turned writer and photographer, Michael Yon's reports on what he sees while embedded in U.S. combat units have been described as "emblematic of Internet-age journalism" (Detroit News).

SECURITY FRAMEWORK PROJECT http://securityframe.org/ Describing itself as "progressive," this organization wants to send you--via email and weekly--the latest government releases and statements by private national security opinion leaders. You may also ask to learn of events in your community and to participate in exchanges.

SMALL WARS JOURNAL http://smallwarsjournal.com/index.php This blog contains articles, commentary, and video that facilitate the exchange of information "among practitioners, thought leaders, and students" of small wars, which involve both military force and diplomatic pressure.

U.S. DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE http://www.defenselink.mil/ As with the DOS listing above, this site provides news of DOD activities and, through use of a tab, access to major DOD publications, many on subjects of interest to students of U.S. foreign policy.

AMERICAN ENTERPRISE INSTITUTE FOR PUBLIC POLICY RESEARCH (AEI) http://www.aei.org/ AEI is "a private, nonpartisan, not-for-profit institution dedicated to research and education on issues of government, politics, economics, and social welfare." Its short publications can be accessed online.

ARMIGER CROMWELL CENTER http://www.geocities.com/armigercc/ ACC is a small nonprofit internet clearing house for thinking "outside of the box of conventional wisdom" and, by means of the online essays found on its site, dedicated to more effective foreign policies that achieve stability through equilibrium.

BROOKINGS INSTITUTION http://www.brook.edu/ The Brookings Institution is "a private nonprofit organization devoted to independent research and innovative policy solutions." The site provides access to its reports and information on coming events.

CARNEGIE ENDOWMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL PEACE http://www.carnegieendowment.org/ The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace is a nonpartisan, "private, nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing cooperation between nations and promoting active international engagement by the United States."

CENTER FOR STRATEGIC AND INTERNATIONAL STUDIES http://www.csis.org/ CSIS "seeks to advance global security and prosperity in an era of economic and political transformation by providing strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decisionmakers."
