MODEL FOR LETTERS OF REQUEST
RECOMMENDED FOR USE IN APPLYING THE HAGUE EVIDENCE
CONVENTION
Request for International Judicial Assistance pursuant to the Hague
Convention of March 18, 1970, on the Taking of Evidence in Civil or
Commercial Matters
Under Article 4 of the Hague Evidence Convention, the Letter of
Request must be drafted in the language of the authority requested to
execute it, be accompanied by a translation into that language, in English
or French (unless the country has made a reservation pursuant to Article
33) or in a language which the state has expressly declared acceptable.
In order to avoid confusion, please spell out the name of the
month in each date.
