Look for an angel on the Internet and you might be directed to the online personal ads. Or perhaps to a music site, where you can download such classics as "Angel of the Morning," "Angel Eyes," "Angel of Mercy" or "How Could An Angel Break My Heart?"

Or, you might come across AngelNet, Indiana's new matchmaker. This one's not for love-seekers but for companies searching for angel investors, good-hearted people with deep pockets who care at least as much about giving entrepreneurs a break as they do about turning a quick buck.

AngelNet Inc., also known as the Indiana Angel Investor Network, is a free service launched at www.indianaangel.com last month by the Indianapolis law firm Leagre Chandler & Millard and the business-consulting firm Concord Partners. It allows Indiana companies to post executive summaries of their business plans on a Web site frequented by potential investors. It also links potential angels with others who may be angelically inclined.

"AngelNet addresses an age-old problem that faces many closely held and high-growth businesses--how to find angel investors," explains Bruce Kidd, founder of Concord Partners and AngelNet. The hope is to spark startup ventures, high-tech deals, buyouts or spin-offs.
