Anchorage Museum garners national grant.

The Anchorage Museum has received a $61,360 national grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to evaluate items in the Alaska Gallery for possible future renovation. The survey is the first step in improving care of collection items and planning for a future Alaska Gallery renovation. The Alaska Gallery was installed in 1986. Many of its 1,300 artifacts--which span thousands of years of Alaska history--are considered the museum's prize ethnographic and historic objects.
