An evening with Carolina Business Review.

Position2005 TRIANGLE CEO SUMMIT

Welcome to Carolina Business Review's 15th anniversary celebration--the 2005 Triangle CEO Summit. Our sincere thanks for joining us. While much of the promotion and buildup around this event is being branded as 'our' celebration, it truly is more about commemorating and observing this very unique region we call the Carolinas.

During the past 15 years, we have been witness to remarkable business and industrial expansion. While the pace of business activity is not always even, it almost always has been moving forward. As someone remarked once on one of our weekly programs: "These are good problems to have ..."

But more about our distinctive regionalism. We have learned that there are characteristics that make North and South Carolina a special place. They include the community feel we have throughout this region: We vacation at the same beaches or mountains, and many times our children have attended the same schools. There even exists a pervasive implication of broad familial relations. In the Carolinas we experience more like two or three degrees of separation, not six. True, some leave to find careers in other parts of America, but many seem to find their way back. There is no doubt that we have a closer-knit community than many other places in this nation. And these Carolina-original characteristics feed directly into the way we transact business. It is progressive and supportive evidence of how healthy and bright the future is for us.

Continuing the tradition of honoring the business community of the Carolinas as well as leveraging the knowledge of some of the best business minds in the region, we are honored and pleased to celebrate our 15th anniversary in Raleigh with the Triangle CEO Summit. Our elite panel of regional leaders and innovators will discuss topics ranging from politics to education to technology showcasing the Triangle as the business hub for the state. This historic conference, exploring issues of note, will be captured on film and referred to for years to come.

The space on this page doesn't allow me to express the genuine gratitude for all who have appeared and supported this program over the years. Additionally, I would undoubtedly forget someone. So, let me simply say how honored I have been personally to be a participating spectator in the growth and development of this region and how blessed my family and I have felt to be included.

Respectfully,

Chris William
