Public choice economics lies in the positive realm of economics, and DiLorenzo and Block use positive economics to poke holes in many popular public theories. These authors also criticize some of the normative views held by certain leading public choice economists. I dislike combining positive and normative in the title, but very much love the rest of the book. All public choice economists can profit by studying the perspective in this book.

DiLorenzo and Block have rendered an invaluable service to scholars and students interested in Public Choice, Austrian Economics and Libertarianism. Their critical analysis of Public Choice from the Austrian perspective is timely and relevant to clarify important misconceptions about both schools of thought that although in some aspects are complementary in many others offer a significantly different and even opposite approach. This is a most welcome book that was very necessary and fills an important vacuum in the literature.
