Amid busy schedule, Fulton oversees expansion at DeWitt.

Brad Fulton started at the bottom at DeWitt.

When he was a college student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Fulton wanted to see what a law firm was all about, so he got a job pushing the mail cart at DeWitt.

Decades later, Fulton is now the president and managing partner of the firm. Under his leadership, DeWitt has grown by 40 percent. The firm also took on a single-name brand, making it easier to combine with a long-established Minneapolis firm.

One of the joys of seeing the firm expand has been the new partners who have come to the firm.

"As we do that, we're helping set the foundation so our firm is every bit as successful 30 years from now as today by helping develop that next generation of lawyers," he said.

One of the hardest parts of Fulton's work is finding enough time in the day. He said he has had to scale back his law practice because of the demands of being a managing partner.

"As a managing partner, one of my responsibilities is to be a resource for all of our partners if someone has questions or they've got a concern, whatever it might be." Fulton said. "Most of my partners are busy during the day taking care of their clients. So what that means is those questions usually come up at nights and...
