Americans United marks 60th anniversary with festive D.C. gala.

Americans United for Separation of Church and State kicked off the celebration of its 60th anniversary with a gala reception Nov. 12 in Washington, D.C. Over 135 organizational leaders, chapter activists and friends of religious liberty gathered at the Washington Court Hotel on Capitol Hill to mark the beginning of AU's sixth decade of work defending separation of church and state. Brief remarks were offered by Marjorie Spitz Nagrotsky, Americans United's director of development; Beth Corbin, AU field director; Dr. Paul D. Simmons, clinical professor of medical ethics at the University of Louisville who currently serves as president of AU's Board of Trustees; Jason Stewart, president of AU's New York City Chapter; Jodell Haws, president of AU's San Fernando Valley, Calif., Chapter; and Barry W. Lynn, Americans United executive director.
