American Red Cross honors Alaskan heroes.

The American Red Cross of Alaska will honor 14 Alaskans at its annual Real Heroes Breakfast on April 4. This year's event begins at 7 a.m. at the Sheraton Hotel in Anchorage.

The Real Heroes Breakfast is the organization's key fund-raising event of the year; in 2005 it raised about $55,000 for the Red Cross of Alaska.

Heroes are ordinary Alaskans doing extraordinary deeds. They come from communities throughout the state, and their deeds must be verifiable acts of heroism.
