Getting around during their last stage of pregnancy is quite a job for some mothers-to-be. The weight gain alone can make walking from the car to the grocery store something of a chore. To help ease this rather uncomfortable time, California Assemblyman Tony Strickland has proposed a law that would allow all pregnant women to qualify for temporary disabled parking placards once they reach their final trimester.

Under the bill, these temporary placards would be available for $6 at the Division of Motor Vehicles. Current California law allows pregnant women to apply for temporary disabled parking placards if they have conditions that limit their mobility and a note from their doctor. The proposed law would still require a note from a doctor, but only to prove the woman has entered her final...
