We've all heard the old saying that the only difference between a courtesan and a prostitute is the amount of money she is paid. After reading "Inside the ALEC Dating Service" (by Mark Pocan, October issue), I am convinced that many of our politicians are the courtesans of our political apparatus.

It's ironic that our society condemns women who sell their bodies--but ignores the despicable actions of politicians who routinely sell their favors to wealthy clients.

If we are to rid our government of the many courtesans...
