Fadia Rafeedie won this year's University Medal, which is awarded to the top graduating senior at the University of California-Berkeley. At commencement, Rafeedie shared the stage with Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, whose presence occasioned protests from students. Instead of giving her prepared speech, Rafeedie addressed the issue of U.S. sanctions on Iraq, which Albright supports.
