In 2005, there were 288,000 non-farm jobs in January, typically the month with lowest employment out of the year for Alaska. In July of that year, which is typically the month with highest employment, there were 333,000--a gain of 45,000 jobs.

In 2006, one year later, there were 291,000 jobs in January, and 338,000 jobs in July--an average increase from 2005 of just over 1 percent. In 2007, there were 296,000 jobs in January and 339,000 jobs in July, which was also about a 1 percent increase from 2006.
