Is it fair to judge a man based solely upon the contents of an attorney disciplinary opinion of which he is the subject? Alan D. Eisenberg says no. Eisenberg told Wisconsin Law Journal that he has been a real estate professional for 45 years, and an attorney for almost 41 years. During a recent suspension from the practice of law -- which in effect was actually much longer than the one year that the court ordered, he pointed out -- he enjoyed continuing success and satisfaction in his real estate endeavors, and many other community and professional activities. Yet he chose to return to the law -- a profession whose regulators, the Wisconsin Supreme Court, cast him from its ranks on three occasions in the past -- because law is his "passion." The majority, per curiam opinion lauded his post-suspension behavior since 2004 as "exemplary and above reproach," and putting modesty aside, Eisenberg couldn't agree more.
