Air Jamaica Air Jamaica said it will continue its nonstop service between New York (JFK) and Grenada. The airline currently flies four times a week to Grenada; as of Sept. 6, the fall schedule will offer two flights per week to Grenada. The fall flights to Grenada will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Air Jamaica has extended its sale between New York and Grenada, starting at USD259 one-way, valid for travel through Nov. 18. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 4 as its home for the carrierOs expanded U.S. service offering direct, non-stop flights between Bogota, Colombia and New York City aboard a 737-700 to daily Aug. 2.. Alaska Airlines Alaska Airlines will inaugurate thrice-weekly service between San Jose, Calif., and Los Cabos, Mexico, starting Nov. 20, subject to government approval. The nonstop flight will operate on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Alaska Airlines, Boeing Alaska Airlines says a flight was aborted after an eagle was sucked into the jet's engine as the aircraft was taking off from a small southeast Alaska town. Airline spokesman Paul McElroy says Seattle-bound Flight 68 was approaching takeoff speed when the eagle was ingested into the left engine shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday in Sitka. None of the 134 passengers or five crew members was hurt. The collision automatically shut off the plane's engine. McElroy says the jet braked to a stop about 3,000 feet from the end of the 6,500-foot runway, then taxied back to the terminal with its single working engine. The airline was sending a replacement plane from Anchorage to continue the flight later Sunday. Aug 8, 2010

Lowest fares are available to select markets in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Fares require a 14-day advance purchase and must be ticketed within 24 hours of making a reservation. American Airlines Man with matches forces emergency landing at ABQ. Federal agents boarded an American Airlines jet at Albuquerque International Airport on Wednesday and arrested a man who allegedly struck matches while the plane was en route from New York to Los Angeles. TSA was notified of the incident, and the captain made an emergency landing in Albuquerque. The FAA says there was no bomb threat, and the man was apparently trying to smoke. Canines swept the aircraft out of an "abundance of caution" before the flight was allowed to continue to LAX. Aug 5, 2010

American Airlines Wine-loving travelers scouring the skies for the finest wines need look no further than American Airlines. In its annual wine survey, Global Traveler magazine has awarded three top honors to American in this year's survey of international Business Class and North American premium class wines. Global Traveler's panel of wine judges selected American Airlines as serving the Best North American Wines on the Wing for its overall wine selection in North American premium class, Best North American Red Wine for the Murphy Goode Cabernet Sauvignon, and Best North American Sparkling Wine for the Gloria Ferrer Sonoma Carneros Brut. In addition, oneworld[umlaut] won the Best Alliance Wines on the Wing award. The annual "Wines on the Wing" wine survey accolades were formally announced in the August issue of Global Traveler magazine. "American Airlines is honored that Global Traveler has again recognized our efforts to enhance the onboard travel experience through the service of fine wine inflight," said Rob Friedman, American's Vice President - Marketing. "Wine selection is important to many of our customers which is why we work closely with our wine consultant, Ken Chase, to select and offer a variety of premium wines." According to Global Traveler, 26 airlines submitted 46 white wines, 49 red wines, and 23 champagne or sparkling wines currently on their international Business Class and North American premium class wine lists for a blind taste test.
