Air Europa, Boeing Air Europa Boeing 737 with 75 passengers on board an escaped uninjured after the aircraft overran the runway while landing at Lanzarote Airport in the Canary Islands today. Flight UX196 had been arriving from Glasgow at about 07:30. Images from the scene show the aircraft came to rest at the coastal end of the single runway, indicating it had been attempting to land on runway 21. Air Europa has a fleet of more than 30 737-800s. The jet involved is a leased eight-year old example. A spokeswoman says the 75 passengers, and an unspecified crew complement, were uninjured during the event, and claims the aircraft has not sustained damage. The results were announced as the airline said it was extending by two months the deadline date for bidders to buy the governmentAos 42% stake in the carrier. Eastern Airways , London UK regional Eastern Airways will enter the busy London City (LCY) to Amsterdam route early next year. The move has been sanctioned by the OFT (Office of Fair Trading).
