Intelligence prompted TSA to heighten thermos screening. The Transportation Security Administration's additional screening of travelers who carry thermoses was prompted by intelligence that suggested al-Qaida's master bomb maker was trying to make a bomb out of the containers, according to TSA Administrator John Pistole. Pistole, who made the remarks during a speech before a group that represents attorneys, noted that the TSA will continue to subject travelers with thermos bottles to additional screening "in the near future." During the speech, he also noted that the use of identity profiles provided by travelers could help speed the screening process and minimize travelers' exposure. Jan 14, 2011

Afriqiyah Airways As of November 2, 2010, Afriqiyah Airways is operating twice weekly non-stop flights between Tripoli and Beijing. The new route offers business travelers the first non-stop flight between Tripoli and Beijing and has been scheduled to provide convenient flight times, as well as good connections, to the African network of Afriqiyah Airways. Afriqiyah Airways is utilizing A330-200 equipment on the new service between the Libyan and Chinese capitals, which provides 30 seats in business class and 200 economy class seats. Travelers in business class enjoy the superior comfort of fully-reclining seats. Business Class passengers connecting on Afriqiyah flights utilizing A319 and A320 aircraft will experience extra wide 4-abreast seating that rivals the first class service on premium carriers.
