Missing guns prompt investigation at N.Y., L.A. airports. Four handguns reportedly are missing from checked baggage belonging to the security detail of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, prompting an investigation in New York and Los Angeles. The luggage was checked at New York JFK and was supposed to arrive in Washington, D.C., where Netanyahu was meeting with President Barack Obama. Instead, American Airlines sent the bags to Los Angeles, where the guns were reported missing. One news report indicates that TSA screeners cleared the bags at Kennedy, but investigators do not yet know if the guns were stolen there or after arrival in Los Angeles. Jul 7, 2010

Continental Airlines Continental Airlines will launch Newark-Cairo service May 18 aboard a Boeing 777-200ER, subject to government approval. It plans to operate the route daily during the peak summer travel season, slowing to five- and four-times-weekly service during "certain periods in the first year of operation," the carrier said.
