ACE Aviation Holdings, Air Canada ACE Aviation Holdings today reported second quarter results for 2010. Effective October 27, 2009, when ACE's ownership in Air Canada was reduced from 75 percent to 27 percent, ACE no longer consolidates Air Canada's financial position, operating results and cash flows. Since then ACE's investment in Air Canada is accounted for using the equity method. ACE recorded a consolidated loss for the quarter of USD50 million. This includes ACE's proportionate share of Air Canada's losses, after adjustments, for the quarter of USD51 million and interest income of USD5 million principally from ACE's USD150 million loan to Air Canada. For the six months ended June 30, 2010, ACE recorded a consolidated loss of USD66 million. This includes ACE's proportionate share of Air Canada's losses, after adjustments, of USD71 million and interest income of USD10 million principally from the loan to Air Canada. Aug 5, 2010

American Airlines, FAA American Airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are recognizing two mechanics who will be welcomed into an elite group of FAA "Master Mechanics" for their five decades of service in the airline industry. On Friday, Aug. 6, the FAA will present retired Quality Assurance Supervisor C. W. "Bill" Denton and Leonard Hoosier, retired Outside Services Tech Representative, with the prestigious Charles E. Taylor Award. This award recognizes the lifetime accomplishments of senior mechanics and honors Charles Taylor, who not only worked for the Wright Brothers, but also was the first aviation mechanic in powered flight. Atlas Air Holdings Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, parent of Atlas Air, Polar Air Cargo and Titan Aviation Leasing, posted second-quarter net income of USD32.8 million, a more than three-fold improvement over a USD10.6 million profit in the year-ago period. Total block hr. flown increased 22 percent year-over-year to 32,207 while average utilization of operating aircraft excluding dry leases totaled approximately 12.6 hr. per aircraft per day, up 24.8 percent compared with 10.1 hr. last year.
