IATA DG and CEO Giovanni Bisignani warned that the industry will take delivery of 1,800 new aircraft in the next 18 months, including the A380, which represents a 10% growth in the installed fleet. Asia/Pacific airlines will receive 35% of the new aircraft, mainly in China and India. European carriers will take delivery of 26% and North American airlines 25%. Jul 30, 2007

AeroSvit Ukrainian Airlines is ordering up to 14 Boeing 737-800 airplanes. The Kiev-based carrier signed an order for seven 737s valued at $523 million at list prices, and secured purchase rights for another seven. AeroSvit will equip the 737-800s with fuel-saving Blended Winglets. This order marks AeroSvit's first direct purchase from Boeing since the carrier was founded in 1994. All-Boeing operator AeroSvit will gradually replace its fleet of 13 737 Classic airplanes with the Next-Generation 737s. AeroSvit operates three Boeing 767s on its long-haul services to destinations including Delhi, Bangkok, Shanghai, Beijing, Toronto and New York. Aug 3, 2007

Air France KLM is to order around forty regional jets 'in the near future', representing an investment of over 1 bln usd, French daily Les Echos reported without indicating its sources. The paper claimed that airline has asked Brazil's Embraer and Canada's Bombardier to submit offers for 70-100 seater aircraft, and intends to place 'at least twenty firm orders with the same amount of purchase options.' The order could be announced before the end of the month, and deliveries could start as of 2008, Les Echos said. Aug 2, 2007
