Azerbaijan's Silk Way commits to 3 more Boeing 747-8 freighters Silk Way Airlines, based in Baku, has placed a firm order with Boeing for three more Boeing 747-8(F)s the official Azernews press agency has reported. The Azerbaijani operator had originally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Americans for four freighters in early 2013 firming only two of them initially. The agreement, which was signed in Baku on December 24, will see the aircraft delivered over the course of this year and next. The freighters will be placed with subsidiary Silk Way West Airlines where they will join two other aircraft of the same type, three 747-400(F)s, and two 767-300(F)s. Sun, Jan 4, 2015
Kenya Airways retires Embraer EMB-170 fleet Kenya Airways has confirmed to ch-aviation that it has retired its fleet of three Embraer EMB-170s. The aircraft type was the smallest in the Kenyan national carrier's fleet. Based on analysis of schedule data, it presumably still keeps the aircraft as a back-up for now with a very small number of round-trips to Kisumu and Mombasa still scheduled for later this month.
