The Civil Aviation Authority has said airlines should be given widespread freedom to trade airport slots. In a joint report with the Office of Fair Trading a study, it warned against "heavy-handed" measures and recommended only a handful of rules to prevent anticompetitive behavior. They include banning carriers from imposing restrictions on slots they sell to rivals and the publication of information to increase transparency.
