Astar Air Cargo, ABX Air

Astar Air Cargo Chairman. President and CEO John Dasburg yesterday said that ABX Air has not yet responded to Astar's "indication of interest" in acquiring its fellow DHL subservice carrier for $450 million in cash and set a deadline of the close of business July 18 for a response. In a letter sent to the ABX board yesterday, Dasburg noted that the formal indication of interest sent late last month came after a number of informal discussions between himself and ABX President and CEO Joe Hete about a potential merger and that ABX should be able to issue a "meaningful response" by Wednesday. He added that Astar would withdraw its indication of interest absent a reply. Jul 17, 2007
