Airbus EADS, China Eastern Airlines

EADS Elbe Flugzeugwerke of Dresden delivered an Airbus A300-600 converted freighter to China Eastern Airlines. The conversion started in late December. A second A300-600F for CEA is undergoing conversion with the third scheduled for September. Apr 18, 2007


Cargolux yesterday reported a 2006 net profit of $82 million, up 6.5% over the previous year, on a 5% gain in revenue to $1.5 billion. Expenses rose 8.8% to $1.4 billion, driven by a 22% hike in fuel costs to $581.5 million. The all-cargo carrier said fuel now accounts for 40% of its costs. Production measured in FTKs fell 0.4% against a 3.2% decline in capacity, while tons sold rose 1% to 651,000. Load factor improved 2.1 points to 72.4%. Apr 20, 2007

DHL is ramping up operations at Leipzig/Halle, to which it started flying in 2005, and intends to turn it into a European hub with an investment of [euro]300 million. It currently operates 14 daily frequencies at LEJ, most recently to Hamburg and Ljubljana, and handles approximately 160 tons of freight per day. Next year it plans to land 50 aircraft at the airport each night. It said the expansion will create around 3,500 jobs by 2012. Apr 18, 2007
