Gov. Tony Knowles has honored two Alaska companies as exporters of the year. AGRIUM KENAI NITROGEN Operations, a Kenai fertilizer plant, was named 2001 Exporter of the Year, and Anchorage manufacturer Dowland-Bach received the first-ever award as Governor's Exporter of the Year for Small Businesses.

"Last year alone, Alaska companies sold more than $2.4 billion worth of seafood, oil and gas, minerals, wood and other products," Knowles said.

"Constructed in 1968 and expanded in 1977, the Agrium Kenai Nitrogen Operations complex is made up of two ammonia plants and two urea plants with combined annual production capacity of almost 2 million tons," he...
