Boeing Boeing is shrinking defense business to cut $1.6B. Boeing is overhauling its defense business to cut managers, combine operations and operate fewer facilities, part of an overall cost-cutting strategy that the aerospace firm says already has saved $2.2 billion and in the next few years, will cut $1.6 billion more. The need for cuts transcends the U.S. defense budget, said Boeing spokesman Todd Blecher. "No matter what happens to the defense budget, the trend line is flat to down," he said. Nov 8, 2012

Employees of The Boeing Company who worked in Palmdale and Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., are due back pay and benefits that could total in the millions, according to an arbitrator.
