Lockheed Martin Lockheed to build 2 Air Force communications satellites. The Pentagon has awarded Lockheed Martin a $1.9 billion contract to build two new satellites for the Air Force. The new communications satellites will be the fifth and sixth that are part of the Air Force's Advanced Extremely High Frequency satellite program. Lockheed Martin has laid off about 110 employees at a Fort Worth, Texas plant, but the company says the move isn't a result of possible sequestration cuts.
