NATO moving toward participation in missile defense. U.S. officials say they are optimistic that NATO is moving in the direction of joining the U.S. on a broad missile defense shield to defend against potential threats from Iran. Under the agreement, proposed by the Obama administration, the U.S. would foot most of the bill for building and operating the protective shield over Europe, and the combined cost for other NATO members to link to the system would be about USD200 million over 10 years. Airbus, EADS, Northrop Grumman Priority in tanker decision is getting it "right". The process of selecting the winner of a USD35 billion contract to build a new refueling tanker fleet for the Air Force is coming to a conclusion, but Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. BAE Systems The US Air Force Research Laboratory has awarded BAE Systems a contract worth USD3.9 million to provide continued support services for its Silver Fox unmanned aircraft systems. The company says it will provide systems maintenance and engineering, plus logistics support, personnel training and other services for the intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance type. Some top jobs at BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics are held by women, and while there is still a wage gap between the genders, about one in six women earned more than USD100,000 in the Washington, D.C region last year.
