Wayne State University's Small Business Law Clinic may be the answer for financially tied small business owners and non-profits seeking legal services. Eligible entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations located in Detroit and the metropolitan area are provided attorneys at no cost in the private bar. However, clients are expected to pay for all expenses related to their transactions.

The Small Business Clinic was founded by WSU Clinical Assistant Professor, Dana A. Roach in January 2007. Roach runs the Clinic and teaches the Clinic's law students who represent the applied organizations. The Clinic addresses the legal needs of the underserved small for-profit and nonprofit organizations in southeastern Michigan. Since its inception, the Clinic has represented a total of 26 clients who provide a variety of goods and services. Some of the diverse clients represented include a financial literacy consulting company, a company developing educational software, a nonprofit that provides services to children of domestic violence victims and a nonprofit that provides free clothes and household items to low-income people in southeastern Michigan.
