Foundation--the primary source of charitable grants made by Chrysler LLC. The Foundation, led by W. Frank Fountain as president, annually supports hundreds of charitable organizations with an emphasis on community growth and enrichment, arts and culture, education, and youth development programs throughout the United Slates and, increasingly, the world.

"The Chrysler Foundation continually impresses me with their commitment to the Detroit Regional Economic Partnership," said Partnership Executive Director John Carroll. "They arc long term investors in the work we do to bring business from around the world to the Detroit Region. Most recently, we've been collaborating with the Chrysler Foundation on developing a business connection between the Detroit Region and Africa."

Fountain noted that South Africa is indeed an emerging market--it is just outside the top 10 countries for international sales at Chrysler and continues to climb in significance.

"American investment is down sharply on the continent," said Fountain, "while Chinese investment continues unabated. America must increase its investment and enterprise on the continent to remain in a competitive position from a global business and development perspective."
