As I complete my second book, I am reminded once again how humbling

an experience publishing a professional text like this one really is. This is

because reecting upon how many people have helped me in a variety of

ways over the past several years, I recognize this book wouldn’t have to

come to be without the input and support of literally hundreds of people.

I owe them all a debt of gratitude—and even though there may not be

enough room on this page for a specic mention of each and every person

who has assisted and encouraged me, they should all know from my heart

how much I appreciate their unique contribution.

This book would not have been completed and published without the

patience and consistent advocacy of my editor, Rick Paszkiet. I thank Rick

and so many others at the ABA who have helped transform a raw manu-

script into a completed volume and otherwise assisted in marketing and

preparing it for distribution, including Marisa L’Heureux, Tamara Kowal-
