This book would not have been possible without my steadfast editor, the Honorable Gail Baker, who has long served as the Chair of the ABA Section of Family Law Book Publishing Board. She stood by me as I first envisioned this book, then re-envisioned it, and gave me support and time to mentally process how this book, designed to contribute to the launch of a new practice area, would unfold. I was fortunate to have an editor with depth in the law and breadth in the liberal arts; she was able to rein me in when I was too far away from the assignment at hand. More than that, she stood behind me and helped me shape and polish this book.
