We would like to thank and recognize Judge B.J. Jones who was the sole author of the first edition of The Indian Child Welfare Act Handbook and primary author of the second edition. This third edition of the book builds upon his groundbreaking work in the first two editions and even more than 20 years after the first edition was printed, many of his observations remain cogent and relevant and are included in this edition almost verbatim.
