Which accounting and finance professionals will have the most promising career prospects in the coming months? Robert Half International, Menlo Park, Calif., a staffing services firm specializing in accounting and finance, identified five jobs positioned for growth.

"There are myriad opportunities available for experienced accounting and finance professionals in today's marketplace," professes Max Messmer, chairman and CEO of Robert Half and author of Job Hunting for Dummies. "Those who combine functional expertise with strong strategic decisionmaking, communication, and technology skills are in the greatest demand and often can command higher compensation."

Following are five high-growth positions for 2007:

Internal auditor. Companies seek internal auditors, particularly those who possess the certified internal auditor designation, to help meet the compliance mandates of regulations such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Salary range is $77,500-$101,500.

Compliance executive. Companies are hiring compliance executives with Securities and Exchange Commission reporting experience to help them meet ongoing corporate governance requirements.
